From Inside The Inter{Twyne}ment

Word Power, Girl Power!

Twyne is celebrating Women’s Day with our version of balloons & champagne: an IDEA! We’ve conjured up a competition that lets you WORDELIZE your uniqueness and non-duplicable beauty in a self-esteem boosting poll. The collection of words will be integrated into a beautiful word-cloud portrait of the collective female heart of South Africa! Stay twyned for the announcement of the poll’s WINNER and unveiling of the inspirational word-cloud!

“Words! What power they hold. Once they have rooted in your psyche, it is difficult to escape them. Words can shape the future of a child and destroy the existence of an adult.” [Vashti Quiroz-Vega ]

Women seem to be constantly at the mercy of words – whether they are used constructively/positively or – negatively/destructively. The media continues to be the source of much self-destructive behavior with its subliminal – and sometimes not so subliminal messages surrounding what women should look like and how they should behave. Wonderfully, the mind can be taught to restructure its word-patterns to replace negative, self-destructive words with positive words of truth — which is the very crux of our competition: to highlight just how exciting, strengthening and renewing it is to finally choose for yourself the words that most accurately describe your beautiful {YOU}niqueness.

At Twyne, we believe in the power of words and are daily witness how they directly catalyse change, progress and success. We harness the dynamism and magic of words within each sphere of how we roll: within our Twyne tribe, with our clients, as well as within our creative processes of forging powerful ideas that sell! Strengthening relationships and maintaining open lines of communication within our team – as well as between us and our clients – is another example of how we positively harness wordpower guarantee sustainable brand success.

World-changing women choose the power of words – and not firepower – to catalyse revolutionary change, inspiring courage and unity within communities and entire nations! The South African Super-Women we honour are (pictured clockwise from top left):

  • Albertina Sisulu: (1918 – 2011) Political Activist called ‘the mother of the nation’, Nurse and wife of inimitable Walter Sisulu.
  • Miriam Makeba: (1932 – 2008) aka Mama Africa, award-winning South African singer-songwriter and civil rights activist.
  • Fatima Meer: (1928 –2010): prolific writer, academic, screenwriter, and prominent anti-apartheid activist.
  • Natalie du Toit: (1984 – ) Gold medalist Paralympian and the very first amputee ever to qualify for the Olympics!
  • Nadine Gordimer: (1923 – ) Nobel Prize-winning South African writer and political activist. Alfred Nobel said of her compelling way with words: ‘… who through her magnificent epic writing has been of very great benefit to humanity’.
  • Charlize Theron: (1975 – ) Academy Award winning actress, founder of the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project and UN Messenger of Peace.

Your own words are the bricks and mortar of the dreams you want to realize. Your words are the greatest power you have. The words you choose and their use establish the life you experience.” [ Sonia Choquette ]
